Uridium

Uridium est un shoot 'em up défilement horizontal de science-fiction, initialement conçu par Andrew Braybrook pour le Commodore 64, puis porté sur d'autres machines 8 bits. Il se compose de quinze niveaux, chacun nommé d'après un élément métallique, le dernier niveau étant appelé Uridium (un élément métallique fictif, à ne pas confondre avec l'élément métallique réel iridium). Le manuel cite Robert Orchard, qui a inventé le nom, en disant : "Je pensais vraiment qu'il existait." Uridium a ensuite été publié pour la Nintendo Entertainment System en 1990. Mindscape a acheté une licence pour sortir un jeu basé sur le film The Last Starfighter. Cependant, plutôt que de programmer un nouveau jeu, Mindscape a décidé de prendre une voie plus facile en recyclant un ancien jeu relativement obscur. L'écran titre, les sprites et la bande sonore ont été modifiés, mais les niveaux et le gameplay étaient identiques. En 2003, il a été réédité sur le C64 Direct-to-TV. En 2008, la version C64 a été annoncée comme un titre sur la Wii Virtual Console. Le 28 mars 2008, Uridium a été publié pour la Virtual Console en Europe, coûtant 500 Wii Points.

The solar system is under attack! Enemy Super-Dreadnoughts have been placed in orbit around each of the fifteen planets in this galactic sector. They are draining mineral resources from the planetary cores for use in their interstellar power units. Each Super-Dreadnought seeks out a different metal for its metal converter. Your Manta class Space Fighter will be transported to each planet in turn and it is your task to destroy each Dreadnought. First you must attack the defensive screen of enemy fighters, then you must neutralise the majority of surface defences before you land on the Super-Dreadnought's master runway. Once on board you must pull as many fuel rods as possible from the metal converters before you take off for a final strafing run as the Dreadnought vaporises into the ether.
