After his village is attacked and his family is taken from him, young swordsman Cress Albane sets out with the healer Mint Adenade to uncover the truth behind the tragedy. Their journey draws them into a conflict surrounding Dhaos, a powerful being sealed away by heroes of the past, and sends them across time as they seek a way to protect their world.
