Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII est une préquelle de Final Fantasy VII et fait partie de la Compilation de Final Fantasy VII. Le jeu met en vedette Zack Fair, un membre de SOLDIER, chargé de retrouver le SOLDIER disparu Genesis Rhapsodos et découvre plus d'informations sur les hauts gradés de SOLDIER, Sephiroth et Angeal. Square Enix a envisagé de porter Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, à l'origine réservé au marché mobile japonais, mais a finalement décidé de repartir sur de nouvelles bases avec un nouveau jeu : Crisis Core. Le jeu s'est vendu à plus de 3 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde et a reçu des critiques généralement positives. Il a obtenu un score de 35/40 dans le magazine Famitsu et a été salué pour la manière dont l'histoire s'intègre dans Final Fantasy VII. Certains ont dit que le jeu était trop court, mais qu'il offrait de nombreuses quêtes secondaires pour vous occuper, ainsi qu'un système de combat impliquant.
